THE AIM OF DEPARTMENT
Department of Film Design aims to develop its students’ creativity by presenting technical equipment and free creation facilities and bring up hard-working, intellectual and renovationist film makers. Students are supported to have necessary intellectual background in order to be an artist by taking some theroetical courses such as art history of art, history of civilisation, sociology of art, mythology, twentieth century art. Young artist candidates are expected to get information about modern art production in the panels and workshops organized by film makers, authers, thinkers and artists of the country.
SHORT HISTORY
In July 20, 1982, State College of Applied Fine Arts became a part of Marmara University and renamed as Faculty of Fine Arts. Cinema-TV-Photography Department provided education for its students in the first year in Beşiktaş-Akaretler as a part of Department of Stage and Image Arts. Then the department moved to Haydarpaşa Campus and became Cinema-TV Department. Postgraduate education was started under the roof of The Institute of Social Sciences in 1987. In 2014 the department renamed as Department of Film Design.
